Now Let’s Find Those Mystery Minis
Every store has different locations but I’ll try my best to break down a quick Finders Series here:
Target: In the Funko / Collectors section above the Pop! or in the Toy Section near like items.
- Tip: New Release can be found or located around the electronics counter (USE YOUR DCPI)
Walmart: In Toys dedicated Funko Section. Sometimes in the cards section near the registers.
- Tip: Not all Walmarts are created equal and most often don’t receive Minis so you need to get a feel of your local Walmarts to see which ones are receiving stock.
Barnes and Noble: In the small collectables sections, sometimes at the customer help desk or near the front. Hardest to locate in store and go FAST.
- Tip: Barnes and Noble almost always receive restocks sometimes a year later so don’t panic if you miss the first release.
- Tip: Check stock in your local area. Generally all the stores in your area will receive stock within a 48 hour period.
Hot Topic: In the blind box / bag section normally near the register or across from it. These go FAST!
- Tip: Hot Topics often get restocks within a 30 day period of first release so again don’t panic if you miss.
- Tip: Call stores and see if they have received them. Stores in an area will receive stock within a week Period.
GameStop / ThinkGeek: ThinkGeek has a Mystery / Blind Bag dedicated section and new releases can be found by the register. GameStop’s typically keep their minis at the register or on a small display near the register.
- Tip: Check the clearance section of GameStop. Often Minis are sent to the clearance section far too early. Always check there
- Tip: ThinkGeek is always the first store in your area to get GameStop exclusives. Search there before GameStop.
Walgreens: Your guess is as good as mine. If you can buy a box online somewhere or from Popcultcha sometimes it’s worth the chance. They are kept in the toy section in the middle shelf and are NEVER restocked. GOOD LUCK.
- Tip: Get in good with employees and try to see if they can find the product in inventory or if you have the UPC have them research it. You never know
Advanced Tips:
TIP: If you want to have the best chance possible get a scale. Not going to go into this much more here just know that it will help. Common sense will tell you the rest.
TIP: Layouts aren’t always different for exclusives.
TIP: Brickseek, stores online inventory or other methods of researching a product use it. Mystery Minis are normally sent together to your area so if one store is receiving them there is a great chance that others will too.
TIP: Use eBay to find UPCs. In some cases when you find it’s hard to locate a UPC use images on eBay to get the information you need. Note: All exclusives have different UPCs than common boxes.
TIP: Make sure the Mystery Mini box has the store’s logo marked on the box. Exclusives will be marked with the store’s logo. Often stores may receive common restocks and mix the boxes together.
