Funko’s recent layoffs and give a special message for friend of the podcast Sully.
The Face and Gloves The first area to look at is the face. The authentic Unmasked Jason Voorhees has a very complex color and shading mixture. A fake is not going to come close to the same coloring and in fact will look flat and lacking in detail. The authentic will actually have a very dirty finish to it. The next item to look for is going to be the gloves. Just like with the face, the gloves will have a flat leather black color. The fake will have jet black and glossy gloves. Bottom of the Feet The tale-tell…
The Wand and the Foot Stamp With the fake Sam from Trick r Treat Funko Pop! unless you know what you are looking for he can be harder to spot. Luckily there are 2 key differences to look for when identifying authenticity. Take a look at the wand that Sam is holding. On an authentic Pop! the wand is going to be further away from his head, where the fake is going to have the wand almost right against his head. This is the easiest difference to spot. Next, you can take a look at the bottom of Sam’s feet.…
The Eyes and the Box The Glow in the Dark Billy from San Diego Comicon 2014 is another one of those heavily faked Funko Pop! that are literally everywhere. Search eBay, Aliexpress, Amazon, Mercari, or your local swap meet and it will appear. So what is the easiest way to identify the fake Billy from Saw? It’s as easy as checking the eyes or the box. Both are extremely easy indicators to locate. If you check the eyes of Billy the indicator that you have a fake is the shade of red. If your Billy has bright red swirles, it’s…
Transparent Skin Determining if a Glow in the Dark Beetlejuice Chase is fake is all just a matter of looking at the skin material and tone. If you have a Beetlejuice that looks opaque and more of a white tone, you have an authentic Beetlejuice. If the skin looks semi-transparent and it’s very difficult to see the green juice on the face then you have a fake chase.
Blood on the Knife and the Eyes The first an most obvious indicator that a Ghost Face Pop! is fake is by the bloody knife. On a real Ghost Face there is blood splatter on the entire sharp edge of the knife. If you have a fake, it looks like the knife was dipped in a bucket of paint. You can also tell a fake by the eyes, as with many fakes. A fake is going to have a very flat finish and usually stop before the edge of the eye socket. The authentic Ghost Face is going to be…
